Barrie is currently hosting it’s annual Promenade event for the Canada Day long weekend. Running Saturday, June 28 all the way to Tuesday, July 1, exhibitors are lined up across Dunlop St. to showcase their products. I was very fortunate to receive a spot last minute with College Boreal to assist in gaining exposure within the community.
Saturday and Sunday were very successful, although primarily used to get an idea of traffic levels. Definitive Gear wristbands were available for those who stopped by to inquire about the website. We upgraded the booth on Sunday, adding in a 10×10 canopy for some shade and other small giveaway prizes. The weather held out long enough to make for an energetic and engaging weekend.
Monday was our biggest day as we had an Xbox One with a 52″ Sharp LED TV on-site for the public to engage with and play. It was a great way to generate awareness for the Kinect Sports Rivals World Championship, which is taking place on July 26, 2014 at Comic-Con San Diego. Xbox Canada provided exclusive Kinect Sports themed wristbands that were handed out for those who came by to try it out.
Our booth was featured on Monday, June 30 by downtown Barrie for having an interactive demo set up, and also for the unique service that we provide. Overall, the event was a success. It was an incredible opportunity to share some of the content from Definitive Gear while having fun and meeting new people.
I would like to thank College Boreal for sponsoring our booth space, the Barrie Business Association (BIA) for providing power and materials, and the YMCA Entrepreneurship Program for their support in helping Definitive Gear get to where it’s at today. This event wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance from these great resources.
